A large-scale power outage hit much of northern Saskatchewan, including parts of Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach Wednesday morning.

On the Manitoba side of the border, much of Flin Flon lost power, including at schools, hospitals and businesses. The power was first reported out at 11:25 a.m. local time, according to Manitoba Hydro. According to Hydro, no outages have been reported outside of the Flin Flon area - communities as close as Cranberry Portage are still fully hooked up to electricity.

At least 3,000 customers in the Flin Flon area, as well as people in cottage areas near town, were without power.

According to SaskPower, outages were reported in areas ranging from La Ronge to Flin Flon, including in Creighton, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Deschambault Lake and others.

"Crews have been dispatched and are determining the [outage] in Deschambault, Denare Beach, Sandy Bay, McLenna Lake and surrounding areas," reads a SaskPower statement sent at 10:30 a.m. Saskatchewan time Wednesday.

The juice went back on about noon Flin Flon time. A cause for the outage is not yet known.
