Pot busts lead to four arrests in Cross Lake

Jonathon Naylor Editor RCMP have arrested four people in Cross Lake on marijuana charges. Last Saturday, Dec. 1, Mounties, with the help of the North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on the northern reserve. Police located approximately 380 grams of pot as well as 400 joints and a quantity of cash. Two residents, ages 24 and 31, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Both are scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on Monday. A 26-year-old man was also arrested and will be charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released on a Promise to Appear in Cross Lake Provincial Court on January 15, 2013. The following day, Sunday, Dec. 2, RCMP, again with the help of the North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, executed a second search warrant at a residence in Cross Lake. During this search, police located 34 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Two more residents, ages 29 and 34, were arrested and charged with production of a controlled substance. They are scheduled to appear in Cross Lake Provincial Court on January 15, 2013. Police said the total estimated value of the drugs from both seizures is close to $47,000.
