Police lay assault charges in Sioux Valley and Melita

During this week Westman RCMP received a total of 69 calls for service. Of the 69, 21 were traffic related including 11 moving traffic – speeding violations, five suspicious person/vehicle/property files, and four assaults.

On April 15, RCMP were called to an assault in progress in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, resulting in two individuals being arrested and charged. The female individual was charged with assault and mischief under $5,000 – damage to property and will appear in court in June. The male individual was charged with assault and will appear in court in June.

On April 20, RCMP were called to an assault in progress in the town of Melita, resulting in an individual male being arrested and charged with assault. He will appear in court in July.

During a routine traffic patrol in the RM Pipestone, RCMP observed a vehicle speeding travelling at 118km/hr in a 90km/hr zone. RCMP conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver was issued a traffic offence notice which carries a fine of $416.

During a routine traffic patrol in the RM of Two Borders, RCMP observed a vehicle speeding travelling at 118km/hr in a 100km/hr zone. Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was issued a traffic offence notice which carries a fine of $285.
