Flin Flon RCMP will crack down on impaired drivers this holiday season. Police in Flin Flon and Cranberry Portage will conduct numerous check stops to detect drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as drivers breaking other traffic offenses. The enforcement program, known as STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program), has already begun and will operate until January 6, 2004. RCMP remind motorists to drive with caution and advise anyone unfit to drive to utilize the local taxi companies or Operation Red Nose, which starts December 4. See tomorrow's paper for more on Operation Red Nose.
