An internationally acclaimed tale of friendship and life lessons is coming to the Flin Flon stage. The Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC) production of Tuesdays with Morrie will be performed at the R.H. Channing Auditorium this Tuesday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. "The arts council tries to bring in MTC productions once a year, and this year we're fortunate enough to have Tuesdays with Morrie," said Sonia Goodman, chairperson of the Flin Flon Arts Council, which is co-sponsoring the show. An adaptation of author Mitch Albom's longtime best-selling book of the same name, the play is an autobiographical work about Albom's relationship with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz. Sixteen years after graduation, Albom happens to catch Morrie's appearance on the news and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Albom reunites with Morrie and what starts out as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. Albom tells reporters he never expected anything more from the book than the planned, one-time printing of 25,000 copies. But with more than five million copies in print and international acclaim, the story has reached an audience Albom never dreamed of. Advance tickets for Tuesday's performance are available at Northern Rainbow's End. Tickets will also be available at the door.
