Cable TV giant Shaw Communications Inc. is looking at expanding its horizons by possibly dialing into the phone business, The Globe and Mail has reported. CEO Jim Shaw announced last week that the company has initiated an analysis of the possible implementation of telephone services, a review process that will likely take a year to complete, according to the newspaper. Shaw told the publication that the company's board of directors has designated a senior vice-president to look at the possibility of adding phone services, including potentially doing so in partnership with another company. "We're cautiously optimistic that these are things we should be considering," he told the newspaper.
