Pelican Narrows man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2014 death

A man who fatally injured another man in Pelican Narrows last year has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Adam Terrance Sewap pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the September 2014 death of a 29-year-old man, reports the Canadian Press.

According to the Canadian Press, Sewap inflicted fatal injuries during a fight with the victim.

Initially charged with second-degree murder, Sewap pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter and received an eight-year prison term jointly recommended by the Crown and defence, the news agency reported.

Sewap was 32 at the time of his September 2014 arrest. At the request of the family, the victim’s name was not released.
