Manitoba Highway 10 has been closed once again due to a forest fire - this time, south of The Pas.

The fire was first reported to authorities July 29, with the road being partially closed at around 4:40 p.m. local time. The closed portion of Highway 10 is south of The Pas, not far from the junction of Highways 10 and 60. Highway 10 is still open to the south of the junction and is still open from Flin Flon to The Pas.

No information regarding the fire, including its size, cause or vital details, is yet available through Manitoba Conservation and Climate.

It is the second time this month a portion of Highway 10 has been temporarily shut down due to a forest fire. Earlier in July, a fire burning near Highway 10 at Neso Lake caused a brief closure of Highway 10. Traffic was stopped for approximately 90 minutes as conservation officers, waterbombers and a Manitoba Conversation ground crew were brought in to stop the fire.

No timetable on when the highway will be reopened has yet been given.
