Thirteen new paramedic jobs will be opened within the Northern Health Region (NHR) later this year, but it is unclear whether any of the jobs will be based in Flin Flon.
The new positions were first announced during this year’s provincial budget, which was released in March. The jobs within the NHR are likely to be posted this fall.
While the future paramedics will work within NHR territory and facilities, the workers will operate under the purview of Shared Health, the province-wide entity that oversees some health and business functions for Manitoba health care. When asked in what locations the paramedics would operate in, no answer was provided to The Reminder.
“This investment will enhance our ability to provide consistent, quality care to Manitobans as quickly as possible,” said a Shared Health spokesperson.
“Careful planning is underway to ensure these positions are appropriately allocated to Shared Health EMS stations in efforts to address existing health system pressures.”
