Flin Flonners and other northern Manitobans suffering from chronic pain are finding relief. One year after opening in Thompson, the Northern Health Region Pain Clinic has seen more than 760 visits from patients across the region. 'If we are to truly realize our vision of healthy people in a healthy north, then we need to always strive to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right place,' said Helga Bryant, CEO of the NHR. Based in the Thompson General Hospital, the NHR Pain Clinic is Manitoba's only pain clinic outside of Winnipeg. Patients suffer from a range of conditions, from back pain and severe headaches to cancer and complex regional pain syndrome. Drs. Howard Intrater and Chandran Baker, renowned Winnipeg pain specialists, are at the Thompson clinic four days a month.
