A downed tree on the Cliff Lake Road left many Flin Flonners without the luxury of electricity yesterday morning. Manitoba Hydro reported that high winds blew down a tree on top of some power lines not far from Reliance Services Ltd., causing a feeder to deactivate. A Hydro spokesperson was not sure how many customers or how large of an area was affected, but noted that the outage included Wal-Mart, the Victoria Inn and some of Green Street. The outage lasted about 45 minutes until workers could remedy the situation. Among the places it left in the dark was Hapnot Collegiate. Not long before the power came back on, students were sent outside as staff considered canceling the rest of the morning classes, vice-principal Cynthia Minter said.
