Official opposition leader Hugh McFadyen will formally resign as head of the Manitoba Progressive Conserv-atives at the end of the month. He will be returning to the private sector as a principal at the consulting firm DFH Public Affairs Ltd. 'It has been a privilege to lead this great party,' McFadyen said in a news release. McFadyen will remain in office until July 30. At that time, he will resign his seat in the legislature and hand the leadership of the PCs over to an interim leader. During his time as PC leader, McFadyen made at least two trips to Flin Flon _ in 2006 and 2010 _ but failed to make the riding competitive for his party. After the NDP won its fourth straight mandate last year, McFadyen announced his pending resignation.
