Jonathon Naylor Editor There was a time when Andrew McGregor didn't think he wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps. Growing up watching his father in Saskatchewan, he saw how busy and intense the life of a pastor really was. But thankfully for the Flin Flon Alliance Church, which recently welcomed the energetic young man as its new lead pastor, McGregor changed his mind. 'Preaching is a joy for me,' says McGregor, who at 33 is a youthful addition to the Flin Flon church community. 'I'm excited to be able to share the Bible with people and to help them draw closer in their relationship with God.' McGregor describes himself as 'really relational' in his approach to sharing his faith and guidance. 'I interact with people a lot and I'm really excited to get to know the people in the church well,' he says. 'So much of my personality really does fit into pastoral ministry, so I feel really blessed and excited.' McGregor hopes to welcome new members to his church, which on a typical Sunday morning has about 80 worshippers out. But he is careful in how he will attempt to broaden the church's base. 'Coming into a new community, it's always dangerous to come in with the preconception of what the community needs and how best to connect the church with the community,' McGregor says, 'so I feel at this point I really want to learn from the people in the church and the community as well what is meaningful to them, what is helpful to them, and what are the best ways to connect the truth we know with the life of people in the community.' At the Alliance Church McGregor replaces Pastor Jack Mulholland, who has retired to Winnipeg.
