Bert Figas Suddenly on Thursday, January 29, 2004, Bert Figas passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is survived by his loving wife Lois; children, Al (Val) Howat, Myrna (Graham) Hagues, Ian (Jeannette) Howat, Val (Jim) MacKenzie; grandchildren, Mark, Sean, and Daniel Hagues; Jenna and Rob MacKenzie; Derek, David and Darcy Howat; sisters Elizabeth (Ted) Storozuk, Victoria (Malcolm) Korzenoski, and Shirley (Jerry) Campbell; brother Peter Figas and many nieces and nephews. Bert was born in Grandview, Manitoba on December 16, 1932 and spent his early years on the family farm. He moved to Flin Flon in the early fifties and worked for the HBM&S Company for 34 years, retiring in 1987. Bert was a member of the Flin Flon Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and was extremely active in the Flin Flon Elks Club. Bert was an avid curler and golfer. He was a man with a strong work ethic who enjoyed helping family and friends and pursued every project to the end. We will miss you Bert. Funeral services for Bert were held Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Northminster Memorial United Church with Rev. Janis Campbell officiating. Active pallbearers were Jim MacKenzie, Rob MacKenzie, Graham Hagues. Mark Hagues, Sean Hagues, and Daniel Hagues. Jim Mackenzie gave a remembrance of Bert. Following the graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, a lunch was served by the ladies of the Royal Purple at the Elks Hall. Dadson Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
