2003 November 3 Ð The biggest winter events in Flin Flon and Creighton will merge into one mega-gathering this February. The Bust the Winter Blues Festival will be a combination of Flin Flon's Sled Dog Races and Winter Events Festival , and Creighton's Chilly Willy Winter Festival. November 4 Ð There is a general consensus among Creighton and Denare Beach residents to establish a high school program at Creighton Community School, according to Creighton School Board Chairman Terry Brown. A public meeting on the issue will be held next month. November 5 Ð Anglo American, the parent company of HBMS, wants to ensure that the Flin Flon mining operation doesn't show red ink in 2004, prompting a major overhaul at the community's largest employer. The restructuring will see about 90 people lose their jobs by next year and some drastic changes in the way the Company does business. "From my perspective, we're at a point in our history of greatest potential and greatest risk," said HBMS Vice-President of Human Resources Bob Cooper during his presentation at the Chamber of Commerce meeting. "It is doable and it's worth doing," he added. November 6 Ð Plans are underway to extend Flinty's Boardwalk trail to lead to Riverside Drive, which in turn connects with the popular walking trail behind McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac.
