Submitted by NorVA Centre The NorVA Centre has received a grant from the Flin Flon Neighbourhood Revitalization Corporation in support of their NorVA Centre and 21st Century Technology Project. The grant, in the amount of $2,138, has been used to purchase technology equipment for the NorVA Centre. The new technology equipment will help the centre move forward in its aim to use modern technology to expand the many visual arts opportunities that it offers. Laurence Gillespie, executive director of the Flin Flon Neighbourhood Revitalization Corporation, pictured presenting the FFNRC grant to Sarah Trevor, president of NorVA, has been instrumental in helping the NorVA Centre identify and explore a variety of funding opportunities. The centre's Founding Patrons are Hudbay and the Flin Flon Neighbourhood Revitalization Corporation. The Royal Bank Emerging Artists Mentorship Program, the Manitoba Arts Council Artist Enrichment Programs, the Urban Arts Centre, the Flin Flon Arts Council and NorVA's many dedicated volunteers have provided invaluable support as the NorVA Centre continues to grow its mandate of providing a creative, dynamic, welcoming space where visual artists can develop, educate, exhibit and grow. Other news In other NorVA Centre news, the latest schedule of upcoming workshops offered by NorVA artists Karen Clark, Linda Sonnenberg-Jackson, Sarah Trevor, Monique Rainville and Lois Pederson are now posted at the centre. Special guest artist Irvin Head will offer a stone carving workshop at the NorVA Centre in May. In June, well-known Saskatchewan artist Gerri Ann Siwek will be delivering an Artist Talk at the NorVA Centre as well as offering a multimedia workshop. Four two-day sessions of children's programming have been set up for the month of July. As well, the NorVA Centre is traveling a show to Winnipeg's Cre8ery Gallery. The show is entitled Borealism and will feature the work of 13 NorVA artists. In August, the NorVA Centre will once again offer their popular Artist Retreat.
