Three girls from Nelson House were in hospital in Winnipeg on Monday, one of them in serious condition, after suffering burns in a shed fire in the northern Manitoba community on Saturday.

The girls – two aged six and one aged five – as well as a three-year-old boy were injured in a fire in a storage shed on the afternoon of Saturday, June 6.

Nelson House RCMP responded to a report of a shed fire at a residence around 3 pm and arrived to find the four children had been taken to the local nursing station for treatment of burns.

The three girls were transported to Winnipeg for further treatment. The boy was treated and released.

Nelson House RCMP is investigating the cause of the fire with assistance from the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
