A 322-km section of Highway 391 connecting Lynn Lake and Thompson will be renamed Tom Cochrane’s Life Is A Highway, in honour of the northern Manitoba-born singer, the provincial government announced Monday.
“I am happy to be able to give back to my home community and am very thankful for this honour,” said Cochrane, 63, who was born in Lynn Lake.
“Life is a Highway” is Cochrane’s signature hit. Released in 1991, the song reached number one in Canada and number six on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
