Northern Health Region program promotes healthy eating

Between showering and getting the kids off to school, the morning hustle and bustle can take its toll on our busy lives.

Between showering and getting the kids off to school, the morning hustle and bustle can take its toll
on our busy lives.

As a result, a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack are often left out of the equation, despite the helpful recommendations put forth by Canada’s Food Guide.
Now Northern Health Region dietician Joanna Ledoux is offering Lunch N Learn: Eating 9-5, a new program for busy workers, as part of Nutrition Month.
Ledoux, who is based in Flin Flon, will show how to prepare easy, healthy lunch, snack and breakfast options that can be premade at home or made at work.
“Almost half of Canadians – 45 per cent – say that eating healthy meals and snacks while at work is challenging,” read a media release published by Dieticians of Canada.
Ledoux agreed with the release and its quote from Dieticians of Canada spokeswoman Kristyn Hall, who said the workplace is the “ideal setting to promote and practice healthy eating habits.”
A d d e d H a l l : “Research shows that eating well at work can boost concentration and productivity.”
Lunch N Learn: Eating 9-5 is open to 12 working members of the community and will provide both information and tips on healthy eating.
The program will run Wednesday at the Primary Health Care Centre from 12 noon until 1 pm.
To register for the program, contact Ledoux at 204-681-3149.
