The North Sask Seniors held their annual tea Saturday, May 1, at the Creighton Community Hall. This tea has been taking place for 18 years and this year the theme was strawberries. Helen Schaff opened the tea and was pleasantly surprised by being presented with a beautiful purple and white gloxinia by Fern Kozak. Isobel Gibson gave a brief history of all the things that Helen has done for this organization over the years. Helen has been the president of this organization for the past five years and has held the position previously for three years. As well as looking after the running of the management side of things, she can been seen supervising spades games, card tournaments, overseeing the spring tea and Christmas celebrations, as well as other entertainment such as the potluck suppers. Helen is a great advocate for the seniors as well as presenting concerns to the Town Council, representing the club at meetings with the Health District, housing concerns, provincial government projects and many more. The Seniors wish Helen good health and a long and happy "retirement". The tea is the only annual fundraiser for the seniors. The money raised goes towards upkeep of the centre. The tea was attended by over 100 people who not only enjoyed the lovely luncheon but also had an opportunity to buy baking and tickets on a raffle for a lovely quilt made by the seniors, as well as other draws.
