Do you know an exceptional woman in the community? Why not nominate her for a 2005 Woman of Honour Award. The Women's Resource Centre, Flin Flon Friendship Centre and Body, Mind and Soul Committee will recognize distinguished ladies in five categories at an upcoming awards luncheon. "We want to bring attention to women's issues and to recognize all of the valuable contributions that women make in our community," said Colleen Arnold, director of the Women's Resource Centre. There are five categories: Young Woman of Distinction Award (must be 18-30 years old); Lifetime Achievement Award; Professional Innovation Award; Community Legacy Award; and Neighbourhood Legend Award. Winners will receive a plaque at the Women of Honour Luncheon at the R.H. Channing Auditorium on March 8. The guest speaker for the event will be Marlene Bertrand, director of the Winnipeg-based Family Violence Prevention Program. The deadline for nominations has been extended to tomorrow, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. Nomination forms are available at the Women's Resource Centre; Flin Flon Friendship Centre; Johnny's Confectionery; Gateway Convenience Store; Di's Confectionery; Coutts' Convenience; Alpine Convenience; and the Primary Health Care Centre.
