Maybe the little green men have something against long winters and short summers. Canadians reported seeing more UFOs than ever before last year, but nothing strange was spotted in the skies of Flin Flon and area, according to a new study from UFOlogy Research of Manitoba, URM. "I've looked through the database but was unable to find any cases last year from Flin Flon, The Pas or Cranberry Portage, or nearby," said URM research coordinator Chris Rutkowski in an e-mail interview. "Historically, there have been some up near you, but not last year, or for a few years, anyway." URM's report notes there were a record-breaking 882 reports of UFOs across the country in 2004. The previous record for sightings in Manitoba more than doubled in 2004, and compared to 2003, there were four times as many sightings. The 882 UFO sightings across Canada represent a 31 per cent increase over the previous year and a new record. About 15 per cent of the reports could not be explained, according to the UFOlogy report. Canadians have officially reported more than 5,000 UFOs since 1989.
