Smoking is no longer allowed in HBMS mines, buildings and vehicles. The Reminder reported last week that the provincial smoking ban, which took effect Friday, allows miners to light up underground as long as they are at least 50 meters from their work site and not in a lunch room. But HBMS is instead in compliance with the federal Non-Smokers' Health Act, meaning employees cannot puff in Company buildings, vehicles or mines as of last Friday.
