It remains an open question as to whether the Saskatchewan government will commit funds to the revamped ER being added to the Flin Flon General Hospital.
The Manitoba government asked Saskatchewan to help pay for the project in the latter half of 2014 given the high volume of Saskatchewan patients who use the ER.
But in its 2015-16 budget, released in March of this year, Saskatchewan provided no funds to the project, a government spokesman said.
The spokesman said the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health is aware of the ER project and that funding for capital projects is reviewed annually as part of the province’s budgeting process.
According to the Northern Health Region, Saskatchewan residents make up 40.2 per cent of the patients accessing the Flin Flon ER.
