No fire losses, six calls in January

Jan. 11: At 2:52 pm, fire crews responded to a fire of unknown details at Stittco Energy, which was determined to be a false alarm. Jan. 19: At 11:58 am, fire crews responded to a multiple vehicle collision at Channing Drive and Fairview Apartments.

Jan. 11: At 2:52 pm, fire crews responded to a fire of unknown details at Stittco Energy, which was determined to be a false alarm.

Jan. 19: At 11:58 am, fire crews responded to a multiple vehicle collision at Channing Drive and Fairview Apartments. Crews found three vehicles involved with no injuries to the occupants. Crews set up traffic control and cleared leaked fluids and debris from the road.

Jan. 19: At 1:47 pm, fire crews responded to a multiple vehicle collision at Bellevue Avenue and Ross Street. Crews found two vehicles involved with no injuries to the occupants. Crews set up traffic control and cleared leaked fluids and debris from the road.

Jan. 21: At 5:42 pm, fire crews responded to a residential fire alarm at 9 Willow Crescent. Crews found a smoke detector activated from cooking and the system was reset.

Jan. 24: At 12:46 pm fire crews responded to a multiple vehicle collision on Highway 10 near the Flin Flon Airport. Crews found a semi and a small SUV in the ditch with no injuries to the occupants. Crews set up traffic control and cleared leaked fluids.

Jan. 27: At 12:46 am, fire crews responded to a possible structure fire at 50 Ross Street. Fire Crews found a smoke alarm activated due to steam. No fire was present.

There were no fire damage losses in the month of January.  A total of six incidents were recorded. The total number of incidents for the corresponding month of January in 2017 was three.

Members took part in three training sessions in January. Topics included fire dynamics, fire operations exercise for apartment fires at Green Street Apartments, and ice rescue procedures and new water and ice rescue rapid deploywment craft operations.

A weekend course on advanced fire dynamics, fire operations, flow path and door control was taught to 15 members as well as one member from Snow Lake.

The fire chief and and public education officer conducted a planning meeting on 2018 fire public education programs, and the fire chief prepared
capital budget plans for 2018-2019 year.
