The union representing Creighton Community School teachers is reviewing its options after declaring that conciliation talks with the province have ended. The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation, whose members have been working without a contract since last August, plans to hold regional meetings with teacher representatives next week to discuss a direction. Lyle Vinish, spokesperson for the union, which represents all Saskatchewan teachers, said in a press statement that "no acceptable and fair collective agreement can be achieved in the current environment..." The Saskatchewan School Boards Association issued a press release stating that it does not believe conciliation has in fact officially ended. "The Saskatchewan School Boards Association and its member boards of education are hoping for a successful resolution to negotiations with the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation," read the release. The teachers' union applied for conciliation last November after after contract negotiations with hit an impasse. The main sticking point in the talks has reportedly been the province's wage restriction of no increase in the first year and one per cent in each of the next two years.
