Creighton RCMP presented its monthly report for the community at the Feb. 14 Creighton Town Council meeting. Sgt. Sean McPhee said the community had not seen a report of a single break-and-enter offence in three months.

McPhee said the targeted number of curfew checks in the detachment’s annual performance plan – 1,000 – would not likely be met, noting there were far fewer criminals to keep tabs on.

“We’re going to fall short. We don’t have the ability to get that number, but I’m okay with that. If that’s the reason why and crime is dropping, I’m good with that.”

Only a small number of habitual offenders still call Creighton home, according to McPhee.

“We have three guys in town right now who are back, but they’re on warrant and they’re hiding from us. We’re trying to find them, and once we get them, things will be that much better for us and that much safer.”
