More COVID-19 cases have been found in Saskatchewan - nine more people have gotten sick in the past 24 hours, including seven far north residents.

New COVID-19 numbers released June 17 called showed seven new cases in unidentified far north communities and two in Saskatoon. The increased cases bring Saskatchewan's total number of cases reported during the pandemic to 693.

Two new recoveries from COVID-19 were also reported.

It is unclear if any of the far north cases are linked to a cluster of cases connected to a funeral and wake held on Clearwater River Dene Nation June 10 and 11, which several positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified with.

No positive COVID-19 cases have been reported in Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Deschambault Lake or other Saskatchewan communities near Flin Flon.

Two Saskatchewanians with COVID-19 are currently in hospital care - one in inpatient care in the north region and another person in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Northern regions of Saskatchewan are fast approaching 400 total cases of COVID-19 - as of June 17, the far north and north regions have combined for 396 total COVID-19 infections, 30 of which remain active. The northern regions of Saskatchewan have combined for more total cases and more active cases than the entire province of Manitoba has as of June 17.
