The Northern Health Region has suspended indefinitely two Flin Flon physicians after an undisclosed 'situation' arose between the doctors. The physicians, whose names were not released, are now at the centre of an independent investigation, the NHR said. 'I can confirm a situation arose between two physicians at the Flin Flon Hospital recently,' NHR spokesperson Glenn Hildebrand said in a statement to The Reminder. 'As a result, and pursuant to our medical bylaws, both physicians have been placed under suspension. An independent investigation is now underway. 'The Northern Health Region takes this situation very seriously. Patient safety and continuity of care remain our focus. Arrangements have been made to provide coverage for both physicians during the suspension. 'The Region will cooperate fully with the investigation.' Asked how long the suspensions will last, Hildebrand replied: 'At this time, the best I can say is indeterminate.' CBC News ran an online article referring to the 'situation' as an 'altercation.' The story did not attribute that word to a particular source. A patient of one of the suspended doctors said he was told by the NHR Medical Clinic to call back at the end of August for an appointment.
