Shoppers from The Pas who regularly drive to the Flintoba Shopping Centre will soon have one of the three 'big box' stores to call their own. Extra Foods is slated to open a new store beside Devon Park, near the Bignell Bridge, this Thursday, Feb. 24. Three employees from the Flin Flon location have transferred to The Pas. At 40,000 sq. ft., the new store will be the same size as the one in Flin Flon. Extra Foods opened at the Flintoba Shopping Centre on Feb. 10, 2004. The growing grocery chained is owned by Calgary-based Westfair Foods, which also owns Real Canadian Superstore. Meanwhile, the Northmart store in The Pas is slated to reopen as a Giant Tiger outlet.
