Paving of a 9.1 kilometre section of PR 340 from south of CFB Shilo to PR 453 will start later this month, weather permitting, and will result in a better road surface for motorists, Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton announced Tuesday. 'This is part of our long-term commitment to invest in roads, bridges and infrastructure throughout Manitoba,' Ashton said. 'This paving project is the last phase along PR 340 and will provide a continuous paved surface. The project will help improve traffic flow and safety for motorists and commercial vehicles in the RMs of Cornwallis, South Cypress and Oakland.' The minister said the project is anticipated to cost $3.2 million and will will cover a distance of 9.1 km starting from PR 453 going north to CFB Shilo. The upgrade will include base preparation and asphalt paving. The work will be completed by the end of September, weather permitting. There will be no detour and traffic will be accommodated during construction.
