Bargain hunters will have another place to shop with a new dollar store set to open on Main St. next month. Flin Flon's Cathy and Lyle Lofgren are slated to open Your Dollar Store With More on March 24 in the former Super Thrifty Pharmacy building. "So far, everybody I've talked to is excited about it," said Cathy. "We've been in these stores and we just like them and thought it was something different." The store will sell a wide variety of inexpensive merchandize, including party favours, toys, houseware, dishes and health and beauty accessories. The Lofgrens have long been trying to bring the nationwide franchise to Flin Flon but found difficulty lining up a location. They eventually purchased 108 Main St., which has been vacant since Super Thrifty closed its doors in November 2003. The couple has undertaken extensive renovations of the facility in preparation for opening their franchise. Word of the new business was music to the ears of Dave Kendall, past-president of the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce. "I think any new business is very positive," he said. "Certainly with the amount of open buildings that we've got on Main St., it certainly is nice to see somebody who's prepared to spend some money and get a new business up and running." Kendall wished the entrepreneurs the best of luck on behalf of the chamber. Your Dollar Store With More, headquartered in Kelowna, B.C., has more than 180 outlets across Canada, including The Pas and Prince Albert. The chain is in expansion mode, opening about 25 new stores each year.
