Dan and Dawn Hlady once left Flin Flon, but like so many before them, they just couldn't stay away. Now the couple is making a fresh start in the community they love as the new owners of the Chicken Chef Family Restaurant. "We're starting our life with this place, so we're here for good," said Dawn. "It's been a lifetime goal of ours to own our own business." Having completed the sale last week, the Hladys have been busy cleaning and painting the restaurant and hiring staff in preparation for a grand reopening tomorrow. "We know the restaurant has potential, a good location and good parking," said Dawn. "Both of us lived in Brandon for a year and we just wanted to get back home." Both Dan and Dawn have experience in the restaurant business. He was once a chef at the Victoria Inn, while she used to work at Chicken Chef and holds a certificate in hotel and restaurant management. "It will be a lot of work, but we have put in lots of hard work before for other people, and now it's for us," said Dawn. The couple plans to keep the same menu initially, but hope to eventually expand it to include daily specials. The grand reopening will be tomorrow at 7 a.m., with complimentary coffee all day and door prizes.
