Jonathon Naylor Editor Health care in northeastern Saskatchewan has a new leader. Andrew McLetchie will take over as the new CEO of the Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority on Oct. 1. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of this new position and working with the strong team that the health region has in place," McLetchie said in a news release. "I am committed to collaborating with our health care partners and community stakeholders as we continue to address the unique needs of northern residents for accessible, quality health care." McLetchie is a registered nurse who holds a Masters of Health Administration degree. He has spent the past two years as director of integrated health services with Mamawetan. Before that, he managed three hospitals and associated community services in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii, B.C. 'Knowledge' Ron Woytowich, chair of Mamawetan, touted McLetchie's "extensive and varied management experience" and "knowledge of the issues in our region." "The health system is in a time of transformation, and Andrew will provide the leadership we need as we work toward more effective service delivery and greater patient- and family-centred care in our diverse northern communities," added Woytowich. McLetchie will replace Kathy Chisholm, who is retiring after more than 35 years in health care in northern Saskatchewan. Mamawetan serves a population of over 22,500 residents spread over a vast geographical region. It operates facilities in Creighton, La Ronge, Pinehouse, Sandy Bay and Weyakwin.
