On behalf of all Manitobans, I extend congratulations to the Honourable John Harvard on being named the next Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba. Mr. Harvard is known to Canadians from coast to coast and is especially recognized in Manitoba for his tireless work as an outspoken member of parliament. I applaud Prime Minister Paul Martin's choice and look forward to working with Mr. Harvard in his new role. As we congratulate Mr. Harvard, I also want to extend my thanks and appreciation to Their Honours Lt. Gov. Peter M. Liba and Mrs. Shirley Liba for going above and beyond in promoting the office and for the many endeavours and initiatives they have both generously supported. As Her Majesty's representative, the lieutenant governor has raised the profile of this position within Manitoba to new heights. All Manitobans owe a sincere thanks to Peter and Shirley Liba on a job well done.
