Snow Lake will have a new doctor in late August.
The Northern Health Region announced through a Facebook post that Dr. Michael Haldorson will serve as the new physician in Snow Lake beginning on August 27.
Snow Lake has been without a permanent physician since the departure of Dr. Eman Yousif in late April 2018, and health care in Snow Lake has been covered by locum physicians since that time.
According to the post, Dr. Haldorson was born and raised in Manitoba, and attained a bachelor of science as well as a M.D. Doctor of Medicine from the University of Manitoba. Haldorson also received family medicine training at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on becoming a full scope rural general practitioner.
A publishing blackout due to a byelection in the riding of St. Boniface prevented the Northern Health Region from giving further comment on this matter.
