Bruce Fidler, a nine-year alderman with the Town of Creighton, will be the community's next mayor. A Creighton resident since 1978, Fidler will officially be acclaimed as the mayor-elect today, as he was the only candidate for the job. Current Mayor Wilfred Boychuk decided against seeking reelection and will instead run for Town Council. Creighton voters will have as many as 10 names to consider when they hit the polls to elect a new Town Council next month. The candidates who have put their names forth are: Don Aasen; Roland Beasse; Wilfred Boychuk; Shane Connell; Valery Dixon; Kevin Elliott; La Verne Hinzman; Ken Hoglander; Helen Hunter; and Colleen Stallard. Each candidate is looking to fill one of five spots on Town Council. The only current alderman not seeking reelection is Dennis Strom. Any Town Council candidates wishing to withdraw their name from the ballot have until 4 p.m. today to do so. The Creighton elections are slated for Wednesday, October 22. Fidler's term and those of the new aldermen will be for three years. The current Creighton Town Council consists of Mayor Wilfred Boychuk and aldermen Bruce Fidler, Colleen Stallard, Valery Dixon, Roland Beasse and Dennis Strom.
