Town council gave first and second reading to a bylaw that would close part of a back lane to allow a business to expand.
The back lane is located near Creighton Avenue and Coronation Drive. Under the plan, the business could be able to expand their existing site by about 159 square metres.
This proposal officially states that the purpose of the closure would be for “town owned lots reorganization.”
Fidler said that while the town zoned the area as a back lane, there was no back lane there.
“It was just drawn into the town plans years ago. It’s all rock, actually,” he said.
“It’s just a paper trail-type thing.”
In order for the business to expand and the lane to be closed, the plan requires consent from the town and the business, as well as the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure.
If the plan passes all necessary readings and permission is given, the Town and the business will be free to discuss sale.
