A new website for the City of Flin Flon will be coming… once all the content loads.
Councillors answered questions about the site during the August 6 city council meeting, including some information around a new web portal with frequent updates for Flin Flonners.
Instituting a new website for the City of Flin Flon was listed as an action item in the city’s strategic plan, released earlier this year. The current website was last discussed at a public council meeting back in April. At the April 16 city council meeting, the website was described as ready to be released within eight to 10 weeks, putting the initial public release date some time in June.
Part of the delay is the city’s desire to have the site updated more frequently than the current site, going so far as opening a job for a communications staff member to update the site.
“I know we’re in the process. One of the things about websites is if you put them out there, you better have the ability to keep them updated,” said Flin Flon Mayor Cal Huntley.
“The website is ready to go. That’s my understanding. We’re in the process of hiring some resources, not just to look after the website, but for communications and various other things.”
“That position will be updating the website, to connect the app and operate on social media, as well as working with concerts for example, working with the media and all those things,” said Lyn Brown, city treasurer.
“We’ve done some initial shortlisting but now we’re hoping to get back to bringing that all to a close.”
When asked when the new site may be live, Brown gave a tentative date of early September.
