Jonathon Naylor Editor Callinan Mines has hired the one-time senior geologist for the 777 Mine, an operation at the centre of the junior miner's lawsuit against HBMS. J.J. O'Donnell was appointed last week as Callinan's vice president of exploration. Of O'Donnell's 23 years in mineral exploration and mining, eight were spent as the senior mine geologist at 777, still considered HBMS's flagship mine. The Vancouver-based Callinan is suing HBMS for alleged breach of a royalty contract that entitles Callinan to a portion of profits from the Callinan and 777 mines. Audit sought In its lawsuit, Callinan seeks, among other things, the right to conduct an audit of the books and records pertaining to the Callinan and 777 mines, and an order for HBMS to maintain separate records and accounts for both mines. The junior miner has not put a specific cash amount on the suit. Callinan is also active in the exploration game. Among its projects is the long-defunct Gurney Mine near Cranberry Portage O'Donnell, a Brandon University graduate, is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He brings 18 years of mining and exploration experience within the Flin Flon-Snow Lake Greenstone Belt. Prior to his tenure at HBMS, O'Donnell spent four years with Granges Exploration exploring for base and precious metals in central Canada. "We're looking forward to a long and productive relationship with J.J.," Mike Muzylowski, president of Callinan, said in a news release. "I'm certain that Mr. O'Donnell's knowledge and experience will be a powerful asset to our Canadian exploration and development operations."
