Highlights from the Creighton School Board meeting of Sept. 26: Board Elections All six incumbent trustees will again be on the ballot in the Oct. 24 election, along with two other candidates. Starting this term, the length of term for school trustees has been extended from three to four years. Shortly after Oct. 24, the new board will hold an organizational meeting to elect a new chairperson and vice-chairperson. Retirement Announcement After 32 years of service to the Creighton School Division, Shirley Owens has announced her retirement from the secretary-treasurer's position. Owens' last day of work will be Jan. 18. During her 32 years with the division, Owens has worked with a number of directors and trustees. The division is praising her efforts over that time and wishing her well in retirement. Bus Routes This fall, the Creighton School Division entered into a new busing agreement with First Student Canada. During the summer months, representatives from First Student met with vice-principal Jason Straile to review existing bus routes and to plan any required changes. Straile presented the trustees with a comprehensive report on the bus routes and these routes were approved at the board meeting. While there have been some minor glitches with the new contractor, overall the board is pleased with the service being provided.
