Trustee Murray Skeavington called it "an honour" to be elected the new chairperson of the Flin Flon School Board on Tuesday. Prior to board's regular meeting, Skeavington was elected to the position over Trustee Colleen McKee, his only challenger. But McKee did maintain her position as vice-chairperson, receiving more votes than Trustee Tim Davis, the only other candidate. While delivering his first report as chairperson, Skeavington thanked the trustees for their support and was quick to commend his predecessor, Trustee Jim Wilson, for his work as chairperson over the past two years. Skeavington was elected to the board in 2002 with a platform that stressed the importance of working within a budget and maintaining existing educational programs. McKee is serving her second term at the trustee table. During the 2002 election, she said her priorities include diversified educational programs and the development of working relationships between staff, students, teachers and parents. Both trustees will hold their positions for one year.
