Winnipeg will have a new $350 million airport terminal by the end of the decade, the Winnipeg Airports Authority has announced. The WAA says the new 60,000-square-metre terminal will be built northeast of the existing terminal building within five years. Rather than upgrading the current building, WAA says it made more practical and financial sense to construct a new terminal. The price tag for the project will be covered by the airport improvement fees paid by passengers. Last year some three million passengers passed through the Winnipeg International Airport terminal, which opened in 1964.
