The RCMP Northern Traffic Unit has detected nearly 70 infractions during its February crackdown on distracted driving in the Flin Flon-The Pas region. As of Feb. 21, Mounties had reported: 8 cellphone-related infractions 13 intersection infractions 20 seatbelt infractions 25 other Highway Traffic Act charges 1 disqualified driver infraction The figures include the Flin Flon, The Pas and Snow Lake areas. Police forces across Manitoba have partnered with MPI this month to locate and deter drivers who are distracted by cell phones and other activities. A provincial summary of enforcement statistics is set for release at a future date.
