The Manitoba government continues to work toward a fire protection deal for cottagers near Flin Flon.
“We are working with the cottagers and the RM to help them come to some sort of agreement if possible,” a spokesperson for Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship said. “Typically if cottagers want or require fire services and are outside a specific RM, then a service agreement with a provider is the normal route. Other services may be covered through non-resident service fees.”
Conservation did not respond to the Nov. 4 garage blaze at Schist Lake.
It was the first major structural fire at cottage country since the City of Flin Flon ended fire service for cabin owners, pending agreement on a funding deal.
The fire was put out on scene.
