Under pressure to make the BiPole III transmission line shorter and less costly, the Manitoba NDP is firing back. With Opposition leader Hugh McFadyen pledging to go the cheaper route if elected, the NDP has released a news release that attempted to reframe the debate. It states: "Could Hugh McFadyen make it any clearer that he doesn't get how important Hydro development is to Manitoba's future Ð and that he really doesn't get Manitoba families? "On the radio [last Friday] morning, McFadyen wasn't shy about his willingness to stall or even cancel Hydro development by mothballing the 'entire' Bipole III project. "Manitoba Hydro is one of the engines of our economy. Hydro needs another Bipole to carry power from northern dams to customers in Canada and the US. Manitobans should benefit from this new development for generations. "Unless Hugh McFadyen has his way."9/2/11
