About 11 per cent of Hudbay's Flin Flon and Snow Lake workers identify themselves as being of aboriginal descent. According to the 2006 census, a combined 17 per cent of residents in Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach and Snow Lake identified as aboriginal. The 2011 figures are not yet available, but anecdotal evidence suggests the percentage has grown even higher. Between 2001 and 2006, the number of aboriginal residents in Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach grew by 20 per cent, or 245 people. _ J.N.
