The national leader of the Elks Lodge of Canada will be visiting the Flin Flon Elks Lodge No. 232 on Wednesday, March 23, 2005. The Grand Exalted Ruler, Brother Al Busby and his wife Elizabeth of Rouleau, Saskatchewan will be attending a special dinner meeting at the Elks Hall. All members are invited to attend this special evening. Please let Al Chartrand or Randy Hersikorn know if you are planning to attend. This, of course, includes the Ladies of the Royal Purple. The Grand Exalted Ruler, Brother Al Busby is making visits to all or most of the lodges in Canada this year. He will be in Flin Flon to see how the Elks Lodge is doing and to let everyone know how things are going with the Elks of Canada. According to an Elks information release: "The Elks Lodge of Canada and their affiliates the Royal Purple are a fraternal organization founded in Canada in 1912 and have a total membership of 30,000 members. "The organization is dedicated to working for the good and welfare of the community with priorities for the needs of children, senior citizens and others in need. They have provided playgrounds, children camps, senior citizen housing and special equipment for hospitals and regional health units. Special concern has been placed on the need for early identification and rehabilitation of hearing impaired children. "Since its inception, the Elks and the Royal Purple Fund for children has contributed over 11 million dollars throughout Canada in public awareness and special projects to bring about early identification of the hearing impaired".
