Kelly Carrington Staff Writer He's a mix of pop, country and roots. And Don Amero will be blasting his favourite tunes Thursday as he performs for National Aboriginal Day (NAD). Following Amero will be Kimberley Dawn, well known for her voice not only musically, but across the radio waves as well. Amero will return to Flin Flon, though this will be his first time as a headline act. He joined X Company, a dance company, and provided music for the NAD celebrations a couple of years ago. On Thursday, Amero will take the stage to belt out familiar songs like Right Where I Want To Be, Turn These Grey Skies Blue, and Through The Storm. '...I'm all over the map,' Amero said, referring to his style of music. On tour Amero can be found either on stage with a band or sitting solo with a mic. For Flin Flon, it will be the whole shebang as the band will back up Amero's voice to help celebrate NAD. 'This is my first time traveling for NAD, so that's pretty cool,' the happy-go-lucky musician said. When he's off the stage and at home, Amero spends as much time as he can with his six-month-old son Oscar. But when it's showtime, Amero is ready to rock. 'This (will be) my first time in a big show in Flin Flon,' he said. With a laugh, Amero said he's expecting sunny whether. 'I just want to have a good time. NAD is coming together as a community, a whole, bridging the gap,' he said. 'It's a day of celebration and fun.' Amero and Dawn have crossed paths many times over the years, as friends, but have never performed together. 'We know each other very well. And being aboriginal, it's a small community where we get to see each other quite a bit,' he said. Dawn was unavailable for comment. Amero and Dawn will be two of many entertainers at NAD in Flin Flon. Activities and events will be held at the Flin Flon Aboriginal Friendship Centre on Thursday.
