Flin Flon and area was once again treated to some extraordinary entertainment on Saturday evening. The Flin Flon Community Choir's 3rd Annual Cabaret, this year entitled "The Follies", was a huge success once again. This cabaret is an opportunity for individuals in the Community Choir to show their stuff! Some of the newer entertainers that come to mind is Alto Nuevo (Nora Fontaine, Sherri Odut and Fran Gira), they not only sing well together but can sure "cluck their way through Beethoven". Mitsuru Lida, a Japanese exchange student, added his talent to the list and sang some pop songs in Japanese. Borealis and Flinty's Chicks were also a hit as was Lori Suss, Cindy Fahie and others. The person that is (as usual) the foundation for any production that the Flin Flon Community Choir puts on, was Mark Kolt. He not only practiced with each act, but also accompanied everyone whether it be on the violin, the keyboard or by singing. His wife Crystal wasn't too far behind, helping out wherever she could. Flin Flon is so lucky to have this talented couple who are so willing to give of their time. Also, other musicians who accompanied the acts were: Eric Bergman on guitar and drums, Charles Fahie on double bass, Mike Spencer on saxophone, John Taylor on guitar, Greg Krokosz on drums, Brent Lethbridge on guitar, Doug McGregor on guitar and mandolin, Alistair Callegari on violin, Cheryl Allen on drums, Dave Gunn on guitar, Mark Kolt on keyboard, violin and double bass and Crystal Kolt on cello. The Creighton Community Hall was decorated with a combination of New York/Flin Flon skyline. All the tables had candles burning and, from the looks of the food on the tables, nobody went home hungry. (Anyone thought of putting out a appetizer cookbook?) Organizer Cindy Fahie was pleased with the response of the people in attendance and hoped that the heat in the hall didn't turn anyone off. She also added that next year there will be a time in which the show will end and that will be 12 midnight. It may mean that the performers will have to be cut down to two songs to accommodate all the people who want to entertain. In other entertainment news, The Coppertones (a children's choir) and Borealis will be putting on a Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 6 at RJ's Banquet Room at 7 p.m. Also, the Flin Flon Arts Council is putting on a Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday afternoon December 14 at the RH Channing Auditorium. There will be several choirs performing including: The Coppertones, The Creighton School Choir, The Hapnot Choir, Borealis, Ham Sandwich, Pam's Steppers, The Flin Flon Community Choir and The McIsaac School Choir will be performing on Sunday only. If you like music, especially Christmas music, there are lots of opportunities to hear it! The Flin Flon Community Choir will be doing their annual caroling as well. Time and date to be announced.
